REPAIRING THE GUTTER
Does the gutter leak after heavy rain? Follow these steps to make the gutter watertight again.
Step 1
Remove any contamination (algae, moss, oxidisation) from the gutter.
Handy tips
- Minimum working temperature +5°C.
- Rubber Seal provides the best protection with a minimum layer thickness of 2 mm.
- Cut the Rubber Seal Textile Tape to size before starting the work to ensure easy application.
- In case of outdoor applications: do not apply if there is a chance of rain within 12 hours.
Step 2
Sandpaper the weld seam, then make the surface dry and free of dust and grease.
Step 3
Decide on the section of gutter you want to treat. Lay the Textile Tape over the leaking weld seam, then add a few extra centimetres to the gutter.
Step 4
Manually stir the Bison Rubber Seal until you have a uniform colour.
Step 5
Using a paint brush, apply the first layer of Bison Rubber Seal over the leaking seam right up to the point already measured off.
Step 6
Place the Bison Rubber Seal Textile Tape and press it down until it is properly saturated.
Step 7
Immediately cover it with two layers of Bison Rubber Seal eventually giving it a smooth finish, which ensures there is sufficient layer thickness.
Step 8
Repeat this process on all the leaking sections of the gutter. Now allow it to dry. Bison Rubber Seal is dust-free dry after approximately 3 hours. After 48 hours, it is fully cured, depending on the amount applied and ambient circumstances.
